Alpinestars TechAir7X Airbag

Designed specifically for racing, track day use and performance riding on the road, the FIM homologated Tech-Air® 7x is based on Alpinestars proven MotoGP airbag technology. The fully autonomous, self-contained motorcycle airbag system is designed for racing and provides riders with streamlined, low profile and highly ventilated Tech-Air® protection. Designed for racing/recreational motorcycling, the Tech-Air® 7x provides the rider with comprehensive upper body protection by covering the shoulders, chest and entire back. The Tech-Air® 7x can be used as a standalone system or as an integrated system in a compatible suit or jacket. The system is designed for use on closed circuits, on the road and in light off-road conditions.

The state-of-the-art, wearable Tech-Air® 7x airbag system features an active electronic system with twelve integrated sensors: 3 triaxial accelerometers (1 on the back protector and 2 on the shoulders) and 1 triaxial gyroscope (in the back protector). These sensors monitor the rider's body for shocks or unexpected movements. Developed through years of research in collaboration with more than 50% of the world's leading MotoGP riders and Alpinestars customers who ride with Tech-Air® systems, our team has analyzed riding data from millions of kilometers and thousands of crashes to continuously improve the system's intelligent crash detection algorithm. Upon detecting an impact situation, which occurs when the driver's body is subjected to a high and/or sudden amount of energy, the algorithm triggers the deployment of the protective airbag, providing unparalleled protection to the driver or passenger wearing the system (with a maximum inflation time of 44 ms, depending on the size of the airbag).

TECH-AIR® 7X DRIVING MODES: RACE AND ROAD:
The Tech-Air® 7x system comes with two different driving modes: RACE mode for closed circuit riding and STREET mode for on-road and light off-road riding. Users can easily switch between Street and Race modes using the Tech-Air® app. The system must always be used in Street mode when riding on public roads and NOT on a closed circuit. Riders should always remember to switch from Race mode to Street mode when they have finished the circuit and are leaving the track to ensure they have full protection even when stopping at traffic lights, intersections or for any other reason. Airbag protection when stopping is only provided by the Street mode algorithm.

Main features:
The Tech-Air® 7x is equipped with two driving modes, RACE and STREET, which feature special AI crash detection algorithms that can be easily selected via the Tech-Air® app.
Tech-Air® 7x is designed to be worn under any Alpinestars Tech-Air® Ready or Tech-Air® Compatible leather suit or jacket, or any other manufacturer, that offers 4cm of space around the rider's chest. The extra space on the chest is necessary to allow the airbag to inflate in the event of deployment. In addition, the leather suit should not be too tight in the crotch area to avoid discomfort in the event of deployment.
Tech-Air® 7x is designed to be quickly and easily attached to Tech-Air® compatible race suits or jackets to increase functionality and comfort.
The Tech-Air® 7x is equipped with a conversion kit so that it can also be worn as a standalone airbag system and is therefore versatile.
The Tech-Air® 7x is dual chargeable, meaning that with two full inflators the system will allow for two separate airbag deployments. In the event of an accident, only one inflator will deploy to inflate the entire airbag system.
A quick release opening allows for quick replacement of the gas generator by the user, which is only available in countries where replacement of the gas generator by individuals is permitted under local regulations.
The Tech-Air® 7x system uses an integrated, certified lithium-ion battery with a lifespan of approximately 20 hours of active protection when fully charged and a recharge time of approximately 4 hours; a charging time of approximately 1 hour results in a driving time of approximately 7 to 8 hours.

To activate the Tech-Air® 7x system, simply close the front flap, making sure to properly fasten the Velcro fasteners. An internal magnetic switch detects that the front flap is closed and the system automatically turns on, activating the airbag system. To deactivate the airbag, open the front flap and the system automatically turns off.
The Tech-Air® 7x System base layer can be hand washed separately after removing the non-washable parts. This includes the airbag, gas fillers and ALL electronic components including the LED display and wiring.

Protection:

• The Tech-Air® 7x is compatible with all FIM Grand Prix requirements for airbag systems and is therefore suitable for road racing.
  The Tech-Air® 7x features the latest evolution of Alpinestars Tech-Air® technology, including a more compact and complete active electronic system equipped with 12 sensors.
  There are 4 triaxial sensors: A triaxial accelerometer and a triaxial gyroscope located on the main electronics, plus two additional triaxial accelerometers on the shoulders specifically designed for track and competitive sport use. These sensors are combined with the Tech-Air® algorithm to accurately monitor when the airbag will deploy in an impact.
  When an impact situation is detected, a protective airbag is triggered, offering the driver unrivalled protection with a maximum inflation time of 44 ms (depending on airbag size).
  The airbag is certified for up to 4 airbag deployments before it needs to be replaced, provided the airbag was not damaged in any of the first 3 deployments.
  This airbag system is certified as PPE Category II (Personal Protective Equipment) according to European Regulation (EU) 2016/425.
  The certifications of the airbag system correspond to the Dolomiticert guidelines for inflatable protectors with electronic activation:

Construction:
An integrated LED display is strategically positioned on the front flap and shows the operating status of the system, battery status and the number of inflators remaining.
Tech-Air® 7x can be connected to an externally wired LED display, available as an accessory for use with a special Alpinestars Tech-Air® 7x race suit or jacket.
The system can be connected to the LED display on the left arm of Alpinestars Tech-Air® compatible leather suits or jackets, or to the new Tech-Air® 7x wired LED display, available as an accessory and used with the new generation of Tech-Air® 7x compatible garments equipped with the special LED display pocket and cable guide.
The front flap features an integrated charging port for convenient and easy charging of the system. Simply plug the USB-C cable into the front flap and connect it to a power source. The charging port is always accessible, even when the system is integrated into an Alpinestars leather suit or jacket.
The Tech-Air® 7x control unit is housed in a robust housing and protected by a seal in the vest to ensure all-weather suitability; the vest and components are certified for use in temperatures between -10⁰C and 50⁰C.
The vest features extensive perforations for excellent air circulation, while the ribbed finish and air channels on the inside provide improved breathability and strong airflow, providing the ultimate in comfort.
Strategically positioned stretch inserts on the sides ensure an optimal fit.
After the airbag is deployed, the air is automatically released via a release valve.
The gas generator housing, electronic wiring and airbag are easy to remove.
Through Bluetooth connectivity to a Tech-Air® app, riders can view airbag system operational status, battery status and MyRide ride information, which can be easily accessed via a mobile device depending on network coverage.
Drivers can easily update the system's firmware via the Tech-Air® app when new crash detection algorithms are released.
